🎸 Welcome to ROCKING Robins!

Dear Parents and Carers,

A huge welcome to our Year 1 – ROCKING Robins class page! We are so excited to share this year with you.

Here you’ll find key information about our learning topics, classroom routines and everything you need to know about life in Year 1. It’s a year full of growing independence, building confidence and taking those next big steps in learning.

If you ever have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I am really looking forward to working with you and your child this year — they are going to absolutely LOVE being part of the ROCKING Robins!

Kind regards,

Sam Davis

🐦 A Day in the Life of a Robin

  • 8:45am – Assembly

  • 9:00am – Phonics

  • 9:30am – English

  • 10.30am - Begin Maths

  • 10:45am – Snack and break time

  • 11:00am – Maths

  • 11:50am – Lunchtime

  • 1:00pm – Registration and maths - mastering number or quiet reading

  • 1:15pm – Foundation subject sessions (e.g. Science, History, Art, Geography, PE) with continuous provision (play based learning)

  • 3:00pm – Storytime

Year 1 is a big step up from Reception, but we carefully balance structured learning with continuous play-based learning to ensure that the children are confident and successful every day.
