Job Advert

Term Time Only 12:00pm-1:00pm

Grade 3

At Bitterne Manor Primary, our vision is clear: to nurture potential by building brave hearts, motivated minds, proud voices, and supportive connections – turning curiosity into lifelong discovery.

We are a thriving, one-form entry school on the banks of the River Itchen in the heart of Southampton. Rated ‘good,’ we are proud of our happy, popular community where high standards and aspirations go hand in hand with a nurturing, stimulating environment.

Our children speak proudly of being part of the ‘Bitterne Family,’ where kindness, inclusion, and respect are central to everything we do. Guided by our values, we celebrate each child’s individuality and are committed to helping them flourish – both as learners and as young people with the confidence to embrace the future.

We are looking for an enthusiastic supervisory assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be:

  • Caring and approachable, with a positive manner that helps children feel safe and supported
  • Calm and confident, able to manage behaviour positively during busy lunchtimes
  • Vigilant and responsible, maintaining children’s safety and wellbeing at all times
  • Fair and consistent, applying school rules clearly and kindly
  • Reliable and punctual, understanding the importance of routines and teamwork
  • Committed to safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies

Their key responsibilities will include:

  • Actively supervise children at lunchtime, ensuring their safety and wellbeing
  • Engage positively with children, supporting play, friendships, and inclusion
  • Promote positive behaviour, good manners, and inclusive play
  • Support children in the dining hall and/or playground
  • Respond to minor incidents, including minor first aid, and follow school procedures
  • Report concerns, including behaviour or safeguarding issues, to appropriate staff

In return, we can offer you:

  • Enthusiastic, well-mannered children who love to learn
  • Exemplary behaviour, as recognised in our June 2024 Ofsted report
  • A highly inclusive and diverse school community
  • An outward-looking, child-centred leadership team, who are open to new ideas
  • A passionate and supportive staff team with a strong sense of humour!
  • Strong parental engagement in children’s learning
  • A commitment to your ongoing professional development, including first aid training
