  • Governor Vacancy

    Fri 27 Oct 2017 Head

We are looking to appoint a parent governor. We want to strengthen our skill-base and are particularly interested to recruit somebody with experience in financial awareness e.g. budget responsibility and / or data interpretation.

    What is the workload?

The governors meet seven times a year, made up of a short planning meeting in September followed by a meeting once every half term. Governors are expected to prepare for the meetings by reading the papers before the meeting. Meetings are currently 6:30 – 8:30 on a Wednesday at school.

Governors are encouraged to make school visits, but it is recognised that some governors cannot make visits during the school day.

What does a governor do? (Source: School Governor One Stop Shop)

Governors do not manage a school day-to-day, but are required to oversee its long-term development.

Ultimately, all governor responsibilities come back to this task and can be split into three core roles - see picture.

    Is there support?

There is a school-based induction programme and the school buys into further training, free to the individual governor.

Further Information: Please contact Mr Adams (Headteacher) or Su Brakewell (Chair of Governors – via the office).

  • Vote for us!

    Fri 27 Oct 2017

The PTA have submitted a proposal to the Aviva Community Fund to try and secure funding for an All-Weather, Multi-Purpose Pitch on our playing field. The proposal has just been approved and we could be in with a chance of being granted up to £25,000!

The next stage in the process is to gather as many votes as possible for our project - the projects with the most votes get through to the finals, where a panel of judges will decide whether our cause is worthy of funding. Voting is open now at https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/17-5946 and we are now encouraging you to spread the word to your friends and families to drum up as many votes as possible. Everyone who registers on the Aviva website gets 10 votes - and you are allowed to use all 10 on the same project - so please take a moment to register and give as many votes as you can to our Banish the Mud campaign!

Please see this short video, created by the PTA as part of the submission, which helps to explain what we're trying to achieve: https://vimeo.com/237459541.

Many thanks in advance for your votes - every single one really does count to give us any chance of getting to the finals! We'll keep you updated with our progress.

    COME ALONG AND GET INSPIRED!

We are delighted to announce the Get Inspired Southampton will return to O2 Guildhall Southampton on Saturday 14th October 2017. The event is aimed at young people and their families. We want students – their parents and even grandparents – to get a real understanding of the broad and exciting career paths that the diverse businesses in and around our City have to offer. We will inspire the students and their families about local firms, employment, future career choices and opportunities. It will be an interactive day that inspires people to consider areas of work they may never have thought of, and which helps them to understand how they might get there.
