  • Website Updates

    Tue 30 Sep 2014 Deputy

    Dear Parents

We would like to draw your attention to some recent updates to our website. We now have our very own 'podcast' section which can be found here: http://bitterne-manor-primary-school.primarypodcast.com/

We have already a few things to it and hope to be adding a lot more in the future. Please take a moment to look.

We have also updated our class pages which can be found here:

    http://www.bitternemanor.co.uk/topic/class-pages

These contain all the information from our parent handbook and recent curriculum evenings if you weren't able to attend.

Please let us know if there are more things you would like to see added to the website!

  • Roof Repairs

    Wed 10 Sep 2014
Some of you may be aware that we have suffered a leaking roof for a very long period of time. We have  been in negotiations with Southampton City Council regarding this serious problem and the damage it has  been causing to resources and children’s work, as well as the potential health and safety risk it could pose.
From many meetings during the summer holidays, the good news is that major work will take place during the summer next year to make the roof water tight which will be funded by Southampton City
Council. However, due to the damage caused during some heavy downpours in the holidays, we have to have some interim repair work. As there is a need for immediate action to stop water from coming into the classrooms and before it starts raining again, this work will take place during the school week and  must be funded by the school budget.
As a result of this, we are expecting this work to take place this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please be aware that initially, the year 5 class will be moved into the hall during the repair work
over the year 5 and 6 classrooms. We will then move the year 1/2 classes when the work commences  above their rooms.  Though this is not ideal, I would like to assure parents that the children’s class work will not suffer and  we will endeavour to deliver the excellent education which you have come to expect from the Bitterne  Manor.

    Dear All

We have been informed that the BBC will be talking to the friends and family of Ananya over the weekend. These interviews are likely to be broadcast during the breakfast show on local radio this Sunday morning. If you have an opportunity to listen, watch or look at the BBC website and comment, we are sure this would be much appreciated by friends and family.

  • Sebastian's Action Trust

    Thu 04 Sep 2014
Thank you for all the donations we received for Sebastian's Action Trust last term. Part of this donation has been used to purchase a commemorative brick to help build a much needed extension to 'The Bluebells' facility. The charity receives no statutory funding and is entirely dependent on the generosity of supporters. They have asked us to pass on their appreciation and thank you all on their behalf.

    Tue 02 Sep 2014

    Dear Parents

As some of you may already be aware, over the holidays there was a tragic road accident involving the family of one of our pupils. The parents of Ananya, now in year 5, were both killed in this incident and while Ananya herself survived, she was seriously injured and remains in hospital in India. She is currently undergoing treatment but remains in a critical condition.

We felt it was important to share this sad news with you as part of our school community. If you haven’t already done so and feel it is appropriate, this would also give you an opportunity to discuss this with your children. We will, of course, be providing support for all pupils and staff at this difficult time.

As a school, we will remain in contact with Ananya through friends and relatives both here and in India. There will also be an opportunity for children to send their best wishes to her. We will keep you updated with any further news we receive.

For the benefit of parents who do not receive email, we will also write to all parents tomorrow.  If you know anyone who has not already heard this news, I would be very grateful if you are able to contact them to pass on this message.

    Thank you.
