  • Scare the Cars Away!

    Fri 27 Nov 2015 Deputy

On the 27th November. we are inviting children to take part in a "Scare the Cars Away" initiative run by Southampton City. The aim of this day is to encourage the children to travel actively to school, to celebrate Road Safety Week and to ‘scare the cars away’. We hope to see a dramatic reduction in car numbers on the day and most importantly teach the children that active travel can be a lot of fun!

Obviously, it is not our intention to encourage children to actually scare cars...!

Instead, we will be asking the children to make 'scary' mask and writing an acrostic poem. Please watch out for our letter in the next few days for the details! We would like you to encourage your children to take part in the poetry competition – the closing date is Friday 18th November - and there's a chance to win a prize scooter!

    Thank you for taking part.

  • Rag Bag Recycling

    Mon 02 Nov 2015 Deputy
We regret that the Rag Bag recycling scheme will no longer be available. The company have informed us that the scheme is no longer viable. As a consequence, the Rag Bag bin will be removed shortly. Thanks to all of you who supported the scheme and helped raise a significant amount of money for the school. We will be looking into alternative schemes as and when they become available.
  • Poppy Appeal

    Mon 02 Nov 2015 Deputy
Bitterne Manor will be supporting the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal this year as usual. However, as an alternative to poppies, the appeal has sent schools a collection of various other items that can be obtained for a small donation. These will be available on the desk in reception throughout this week. Please support if you can.
