PTA

Who are we?

The PTA is a group of parents and teachers who work together to come up with fundraising ideas to raise money to make the school a better place for our children.

What do we do?

We meet every half term to plan the fundraising for the term ahead, organise and run events, and agree what the funds raised are to be spent on.  Our main aim is to ensure that all children benefit from the items purchased by the PTA.

How does the PTA use the funds raised?

Last year we were delighted to raise enough funds to transform our tired school library into a fabulous, funky new learning zone! With custom-made brightly coloured furniture, fun themed areas and exciting places to sit and read, we now have an inspiring place for children to discover the wonder of books. We also funded the new house team flags, designed by the children, to celebrate their team successes. Our aims for this year include raising enough money to revamp the outside play area and even create an outdoor classroom, as well as other annual events such as the Easter Egg hunt and the Year 6 leavers barbecue.

Thank you so much to everyone who is, and has been involved, we couldn’t do it without you!

How can you get involved?

There are several ways of getting involved and ‘doing your bit’.  We don’t expect everyone to do everything, but if lots of people helped in a small way, we could make a huge difference.  There are several ways to get involved:

  • Join the committee and attend regular meetings
  • Lend a hand at our fundraising events (e.g. school disco, film clubs, summer fair)
  • Help to prepare for various events behind the scenes (e.g. present wrapping, baking, sewing bunting, printing, collecting supplies)
  • Donate prizes or services for raffles – use your contacts to help us!
  • Shop online via www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/bitternemanorprimary and raise funds for the school every time you shop.
  • Order name tags for your children's clothes and personal items at www.mynametags.com using school ID 33698. Every purchase will automatically donate 20% to the PTA!

Get in touch!

We look forward to meeting you!

Who wants to join our school PTA?

What is it for? You say, backing away.

The short answer is fundraising, pennies and pounds;

The school’s tight stretched budget can’t always go round.

We buy extra resources, for learning and play,

To enrich and enhance our children’s school day.

Who wants to join our school PTA?

What do you do? You gingerly say,

Well, we run termly discos, Christmas fair, summer Fete.

Cake sales, Easter events, we’ve a lot on our plate!

Who wants to join our school PTA?

Is it all mothers’ meetings? You nervously say.

It’s true that we chatter at the school gate,

Lots of business gets sorted around half past eight

But we really are a very mixed bunch,

Business people, professionals, and ladies (or men) that lunch

So, who wants to join our School PTA?

I’ve heard it’s quite cliquey, as a last ditch you say.

No, not in the slightest, we welcome everyone,

There’s a lovely team spirit, it’s hard work but fun.

Between staff and parents, we strengthen the link.

Are you interested? Will you join us? What do you think?

If you’re convinced or just curious about what we do each year,

Come along to the meetings there’s more to see and hear!

I'd like to help our PTA...

If you'd like to offer help or have got a really good idea please use the contact form below to get in touch.
