  • Library Consultation

    Wed 04 Mar 2015 Deputy

This week is the last chance for us to be involved in the consultation about the future of libraries in the city.  Southampton are very keen to have as many participate as possible, the survey takes only 3 minutes to complete. The link is below to the primary school survey, secondary school survey and the adult/main survey.

  • Northam Bridge Update

Northam Bridge work – New road surface being laid next week

The waterproofing layer on Northam Bridge (inbound lanes) has been applied; you might have noticed the bridge changing colour this week, we had some twitter comments that we had our own yellow brick road.

From Monday a new road surface will be applied. This is only one of a handful of locations in the UK to have this very dense, strong and waterproof guss-asphalt surface, which is laid at 400°C, twice that of normal asphalt. The specialist machinery will run on rails and can apply a layer of the surface in a matter of hours.

By the end of next week line markings will be painted and over night on Sunday, 8 March traffic will be switched onto the new road surface.
