Year 1
Autumn Term
Children will be introduced to the Fundamental Movement Skills to extend their agility, balance and coordination which will be both individual and working with others. This will also include elements of running, jumping, throwing and catching.
These skills will be built on when exploring gym movements and shapes.
Spring Term
Dance will be related to Year 1's topic (Bright lights, big city) and the children will perform simple movement patterns.
Following from the previous term, Multi-skills will continue to allow the children to engage in competitive and cooperative physical activities in a range of challenging situations whilst using the fundamental movement skills.
Summer Term
The children will play bat and ball games which consist of hitting, striking, rolling and collecting. They will participate in team games and explore simple tactics for attacking and defending.
Athletics will afford the children more opportunities to focus on the fundamental movement skills. There will also be an element of small sided games to become used to a competitive environment.
