Welcome from the Governing Body

Dear Parent

Staff and governors at Bitterne Manor work hard to ensure that everyone in the school understands the importance of individual effort and achievement together with supporting each other to be the best that we can be. We aim to achieve the highest possible standards and we are constantly monitoring the school’s performance in order to provide the best possible learning environment for your child.  We also aim to ensure that every member of the school community - pupils, parents and staff - feels supported and valued.
We are very proud of our school and its status in the community and we hope that you will want to become involved in the life of the school. We believe that parental involvement plays a major role in shaping the general atmosphere of the school and in helping it to achieve its aims for all pupils.

As parents, you are welcome to visit the school at any time, and there are also more formal opportunities to meet staff and governors, for example parents evenings, book looks and assemblies which are times to celebrate achievement and to discuss any concerns.

If you are interested in becoming more involved in the school, why not become a member of the Parent Teacher Association, which raises funds for our school and which always welcomes new members?  You can do this by contacting the school office.  From time to time, there are vacancies for parent governors.  If a
vacancy arises we would be delighted if you put your name forward for election.

We all hope your child will enjoy their time at Bitterne Manor. We strongly believe that the positive ethos of the school is one in which your child can flourish and achieve their full potential.

If you have any comments or encounter any problems, please share them with your child’s class teacher or the Headteacher. We really value hearing parents’ comments and will send out surveys periodically to give you an opportunity to let us know what you think. We need to know what we are getting right and whether there are things which could be improved, and we won’t know unless you tell us.
With best wishes,

The Governors
