Year 2

Autumn Term

Children will continue to develop their Fundamental Movement Skills to improve their agility, balance and coordination which will be both individual and working with others.  This will also include elements of running, jumping, throwing and catching.  There will be small sided games to begin developing simple tactics for attacking and defending.

Gym and Dance sequencing will see the children perform dances using simple movement patterns.

Spring Term

Multi-skills will build on skills learnt in Year 1 and continue the child's journey to engage in competitive and cooperative physical activities in a range of challenging situations whilst using the fundamental movement skills.

Gym/Dance will be an opportunity to improve sequencing and movements from the previous term.

Summer Term

The children will play bat and ball games which consist of hitting, striking, rolling and collecting. They will participate in team games and explore simple tactics for attacking and defending which will ensure they are better prepared for sport specific games in Key Stage 2.

Athletics will afford the children more opportunities to focus on the fundamental movement skills.  There will also be an element of small sided games to become used to a competitive environment.
