Week 4 - 11/5
Exploring the Stone Age Cave!
This week we get to the point in our story where the boy and the Stone Age girl explore a cave they have found!
Below are the next lot of pages of our class book...
Describe what you see...
Happy Monday everyone! :) I hope you all had a lovely weekend and you are ready for another fun week of learning!
For today's task I would like you to read the pages I have added above and I would like you to create a list of things the boy and the girl might see in that cave and add adjectives to describe those objects. Use the text on the pages to help you discover what they saw!
Begin your senses plan...
Today I would like you to put yourself in the shoes of the boy or the girl in that cave! I would like you to close your eyes and try and imagine what it might be like to stand in that damp, dark place.
For today's activity I would like you to focus on the following senses...
- What you might SEE.
- What you might HEAR.
- What you might TOUCH.
It is up to you how you would like to lay it out. You could create 3 different mind maps or create 3 different lists.
Remember description is the most important thing here. You want to create a picture in the readers mind. Below are some writing features that you need to consider...
- What adjectives can you use?
- Can you include similes?
- Can you add some alliteration?
- Could you use adverbs?
Complete your senses plan...
Today I would like you to continue with yesterday's task of creating your own senses plan. This time I would like you to think about the following senses...
- What might you smell?
- What may you taste?
- How might you be feeling?
Remember to include lots of descriptive vocabulary as this will make your setting descriptions much easier to write! I know you are all amazing at using that incredible range of vocabulary and I can not wait to see what you come up with! :)
Today's task is all about the writing! I would like you to write a setting description of the cave! Remember to use the senses plan you have been making and think carefully about all those wonderful writing skills you have to make this the best description EVER!
Below are some writing features for you to consider...
- What adjectives will you use to add description?
- What conjunctions will you use to extend your sentences?
- Break you description down into paragraphs to separate the topics.
- Remember to describe all your senses to give the reader a clear picture in their mind.
- Don't forget to use a range of sentence starters.
- Think carefully about the punctuation you are using.
I can't wait to see what you write!
Have fun! :)
Loud and clear for all to hear...
It's Fri-YAYYYYY!!! One more day until the weekend Skylarks! :) For today's task I would like you to read out your setting description to another family member! This will help practice your reading skills and build your confidence with reading out loud! :)
Once you have read the description I would like you and your family member to think of 2 stars and a wish... this means 2 things that you have done really well and one thing that can be your target for next time! :)
Have fun! :)
