Week 2 - 27/4
The Stone Age Boy!
This half term we would have been looking at the topic of the Stone Age! To tie in with this our book is called The Stone Age Boy. Our tasks this week are going to be all about looking at this book!
Use your perfect prediction skills!
Today you are going to be using your amazing prediction skills! Below is the blurb from the back of the book. I would like you to read it and use the clues it gives you to write a short prediction of what the book might be about and what events might happen! This is one of my favourite books and I can't wait to see what wonderful work you produce! :)
Here is the blurb...
An amazing thing once happened to me - I tripped and fell and found myself in a place where everything was different, where the people wore animal skins and hunted and fished for their food.
I had such fun in that strange place and learnt so much, but all the time I kept wondering where I was. Was it possible? Had I travelled... to the Stone Age?
I have also attached a picture of the back of the book below...
Feelings Mind Map!
I hope you all enjoyed yesterdays task! This new book is a wonderful one for us to look at together!
For today's task I would like you to read the first few pages of the book which I have added below and then think about how the boy might be feeling. I would like you to create a mind map of the boys emotions and the reason why he is thinking this way. Try and put yourself in his shoes... how would you feel turning up in the middle of nowhere?
Have fun! I can't wait to see what you come up with! :)
Spot the difference!
Below is the next page of our book! It is the moment where the boy and the girl meet each other. Considering the girl is from the Stone Age they look rather different... especially what they are wearing!
Your task today is to take a look at the page and create a list of similarities and difference between the boy and the Stone Age girl!
Below are the next 2 pages of our book. This is the moment where the boy is introduced to the rest of the Stone Age girl's family!
Today I would like you to put yourself in the role of the boy. If you were introduced to a whole family of Stone Age people what questions would you like to ask them? What would you like to find out about the Stone Age? I have added a few hints below for you! :)
- What would you want to know about their food?
- Would you like to find out about their houses and building materials?
- What about their clothes?
Create a set of questions you would like to ask the family if you were the boy. :)
I hope you have enjoyed this week of learning! Today we have our final task of the week!
Below is an image of the Stone Age camp the boy has been introduced to.
Today I would like you to put yourself in role as the boy and I would like you to describe what the camp looks like! Think of all that wonderful descriptive vocabulary you know and apply it to the scene below. It is up to you how you would like to display this...
- You could create a mind map.
- Or you can create your own descriptive sentences.
- Or you could apply your brilliant writing skills to create a descriptive paragraph to set the scene!
Remember when you are thinking of how to describe the scene think of your senses...
- What might you smell?
- What can you see?
- What noises can you hear?
- What can you feel?
- What might you taste?
I can not wait to see what you produce!
Happy Fri-YAY! Keep smiling! :)
