Time!

 

This we we are going to be looking at time so you can use all that wonderful knowledge we learnt in class and more! :) I can't wait see all the amazing work you produce! Please email me pictures of it to skylarks@bitternemanor.net :)

Creating your very own clock!

For today's task I would like you to create your own clock! You can draw it, make it, paint it, or use paper plates! Be as creative as you like! Here are some ideas below to get you started...

 

Once you have made your clock can you label what you can see on your clock?

Below are some handy hints to get you started:

  • Minute hand
  • Hour hand
  • How many minutes are in an hour?
  • How many seconds are in a minute?
  • What does it mean if the minute hand is pointing at the 6?
  • Where is quarter past?
  • Where is o'clock?

I was blown away by how fantastic your work was yesterday! What super enthusiasm Skylarks! :)

 

For today's task I would like you to use the clock you have made to create your own mind map all about time! I would like you to fill the page with all the amazing facts you remember about telling the time! Below are some handy hints to get you thinking...

  • Analogue clock
  • Digital clock
  • 24 hour clock
  • am and pm
  • second, minutes, hours, days, months and years

This should help jog your memory on some of the topics we covered in class! :)

I will post my mind map tomorrow for you all to take a look at.

I have seen some fantastic mind maps from you all! Showing just how many amazing facts you remember about time! :)

 

Today I would like you to put that fantastic knowledge to the test by creating a daily timeline! You can be as creative as you like! Think about the daily tasks you carry out such as having breakfast, brushing your teeth and going to bed and think about what time you do these tasks! :) You can use the clock you made to show the different times and take a picture of it maybe? :)

Hey Skylarks! :) You produce some amazing work again yesterday! Well done!

For today's task I have some riddles for you to solve! You need to read the riddle and work out what time it is by using the clues given to you. You could use your clock to help you and show what time you think it is! I will upload the answers tomorrow for you to check! :)

 

Once you think you know what time it is can you then draw this onto a clock face or right it down in words?

Your challenge would me to explain how you know! :)

 

1)

I am an analogue clock. 

My hour hand is pointing at the 8. 

My minute hand is pointing at the 12. 

What time is it?

 

2)

I am a 12 hour clock. 

My first number is a 5. 

I then have this symbol... : 

My last two numbers are 30. 

I have am at the end. 

What time is it?

 

3)

I am an analogue clock. 

My smallest hand is on the 2. 

My largest hand is on the 6. 

What time is it?

 

4)

I am a 24 hour clock. 

My first two numbers are 14. 

My last two numbers are 15. 

What time is it?

 

5)

I am an analogue clock. 

My smallest hand is near the 10. 

My largest hand is on the 9. 

What time is it?

 

6)

I am a 12 hour clock. 

My first two numbers are a 10. 

My last two numbers are a 10. 

I have pm at the end. 

What time is it? 

 

Answers:

1) 8 o'clock

2) Half past 5 in the morning

3) Half past 2

4) Quarter past 2 in the afternoon

5) Quarter to 10

6) Ten minutes past 10 in the evening

Now it is your turn to become the quiz master! Can you write your own riddles about time? Use my examples above to help you write them! :)

 

Once you have written them can you then test them out on a family member? Or email them to me and I will try and solve your riddles! :)
