The daily diary of.... Mr Bedford!

A day in the life of Mr Bedford!

During these uncertain times, it really does feel strange not being in school or seeing you all every day.  I have decided to write a diary so you can find out what I have been up to.  It would be really nice if you could update me on anything you have been doing and to read your stories!  Don't forget that you can write to me at rooks@bitternemanor.net.  I look forward to hearing from you smiley

Wednesday 25th March -

This morning was really strange as it is the first time that I have not been to school.  I kept looking at my watch thinking I was running late!  I did lots of work today on the class pages to make sure you have lots of things to do at home so make sure you keep checking every day.  I also found time to do some PE as well by watching Joe Wicks on YouTube...I was really tired afterwards!  I managed to go out into the garden for some fresh air and spent some time with Colin and Daisy (my rabbits) and Suki and Lily (my two cats).  You will probably see a lot more pictures of them in my diaries laugh.

I'm teaching Colin how to pose for a photo!

Thursday 26th March

This morning I carried on my daily routine of PE with Joe Wicks.  Even though we are not at school, I still want to keep a routine as it improves my mood and keeps me feeling motivated.  I spent some time working on some new resources which I will share with you next week but in the meantime keep working on what we have already put on the website.  The weather at the moment is really nice and although we have lots of learning to do, it is important to get outside and have some fresh air, obviously making sure we are staying safe.  I went to my allotment and planted a few vegetables as life still goes on around us.  There are now lots of potatoes, carrots and onions down there. Yum! My cats and rabbits have spent all day in the sunshine, enjoying it as much as possible.  They are probably wondering why I am not at school!

Suki thinks she is a rabbit!

Friday 27th March

Hey Rooks!  Usually on a Friday morning I jump out of bed as it is almost the start of the weekend.  This morning was strange, however, as every day feels like a weekend!  Do you feel the same?  The weather is still lovely and it was nice to get some fresh air, it really does improve my mood.  It was nice to read some of your emails so please keep them coming yes. It is great to hear how you are getting on and it would be great to publish some of the work you have done smiley.  I spent some time looking at more work for you ready for next week before taking some time to look after the garden.  I planted some more vegetables in my greenhouse such as tomatoes and cauliflowers.  For those if you who were given seeds last week, how are they getting on?  Send pictures!

It has definitely been a strange week but I really hope you enjoy the weekend as best as you can and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Monday 30th March

Hey Rooks!  I hope you all had a lovely weekend?  Monday mornings are when you come into the classroom with funny stories about the weekend or showing off new haircuts.  Today still feels like the weekend but it is important to keep busy and stick to a routine if possible.  I woke up early this morning to upload new resources onto the website so make sure you check them out smiley.  A lot of time has also been spent on stopping Daisy and Colin digging large holes in my garden!  There are 3 pigeons that have decided to make a nest somewhere close by, they are very brave and not scared of Suki or Lily surprise.  They like to hide in the tall grass and tease the cats.  You can tell that I am not getting out much!

I had some lovely photos emailed to me today of work that you had done and fun activities you were busy with.  Keep sending them in.

Can you spot the sneaky pigeon?

Tuesday 31st March

Hey Rooks!  I was really pleased to check my emails today and see lots of messages and photos from you.  It is difficult in these strange times when we are not seeing each other on a daily basis so it is really nice when I do hear from you.  I was impressed with some of the activities that you were doing at home and it is so important to keep on having fun laugh.  I am adding any photos and work you send me to the school blog so keep them coming in.  As well as update the website and blog, I also found time to get some fresh air and plant some more vegetables.  The pigeons are back in the garden, much to the annoyance of Lily and Suki!  Daisy and Colin are well, they are still keeping me busy by digging new holes.

"Is the pigeon looking at me?" asked Lily

Wednesday 1st April

Hey Rooks!  I was in school today which was so strange.  The corridors were quiet and it was a weird feeling to walk into our empty classroom.  I spent a lot of time on the playground and it did feel quite lonely at times.  However, I did have the woodchip all to myself!  That was definitely fun, I can see why you enjoy it so much!

I came home to find Daisy had decided to build a nest out of straw.  She has obviously been watching those pesky pigeons who have invaded my garden.  Colin and Suki were asleep and Lily was making a fuss.  I think she is hungry so I had better feed her.

Keep sending in your work and photos, it is really nice to see all the fun stuff you have been getting up to.

"If those pigeons can do it, so can I", said Daisy

Thursday 2nd April

Hey Rooks! We are almost at the end of another week and it is nearly time for the Easter Holidays!  Usually this would be a really exciting time for everybody but life has changed quite a bit and nobody could have imagined how things would turn out.  It is still important to keep going though, whether it be looking at the home learning tasks or spending time with family.

There is an Easter task on the website if you want something to do which is a lot of fun!  It allows you to be really creative too.

I found time today to do some more digging on my allotment and plant some more vegetables.  At this rate, I might have to open up my own vegetable shop in the summer when they are ready to be harvested! I spent some more time with the cats and rabbits, they are really enjoying having me home at the moment.

Keep smiling Rooks and keep those emails and photos coming in! smiley

Can you spot the 3 animals in this picture?

Friday 3rd April

Hey Rooks!  Well, it is the last day of spring term and usually we would all be at school, excited for the 2 week holiday!  Things are a little different now but it is still important to make sure we enjoy ourselves as best as we can.  It has been a strange two weeks and although I do wish we were all at school, there are definitely a lot of things that I have done which would not have been possible if I had not spent so long at home.  I have spent more time with my family.  I have spoken to my relatives and friends on the phone more than I ever would.  A lot of time has been spent with Daisy, Colin, Suki and Lily.  I have noticed the wildlife in my garden and counted 10 different types of bird.  I even had a fox pay a visit to my garden (luckily the rabbits were safe).  I've planted vegetables, flowers and even a fruit tree.  I have started to learn Spanish.  I have looked out of my window at night and looked at the stars.  I baked a cake and practiced new recipes.  All of these are simple things which we take for granted, maybe like school, but it makes me grateful for all the wonderful things, no matter how small, that are in my life.  Have you been able to try new things whilst at home?

There are a few activities on the website that you can do over Easter such as writing a gratitude journal.  I will be doing this and it is to show all the things in life that you are grateful for.

I hope you have a lovely Easter and I hope to keep seeing your messages and photos.
