Summer Term 1
George's Marvellous Medicine!
This half term focuses on a really FUN and engaging text that children will LOVE... 'George's Marvellous Medicine!'
In English we will be:
- Building on skills looked at last half term,
- Identifying contractions and possessive apostrophes,
- Using the progressive form of verbs in the present and past tense,
- Understanding how the grammatical patterns in a sentence indicate it's function.
Children will have the chance to apply skills learnt to a range of writing outcomes. These consist of: a character description on grandma, writing a marvellous poem and creating a recipe for a marvellous medicine along with a set of instructions.
Handwriting and spellings will be a key focus in school and for homework. Children will practise to form lowercase and uppercase letters and numbers correctly. As well as, spell common exception words independently and make plausible attempts at words unknown.
