Blending the ‘-air’ sound
Today our Phonics lesson is going to focus on blending! We will be practising blending our ‘ow’ sound!
Blending is a vital skill that the children need to acquire when reading. It is so important but it is equally often the trickiest concept for children to pick up and can often take lots and lots of practice before the children become confident.
I thought that it would be good to incorporate this into our Phonics sessions to help the children practice and apply using each sound we learn. Each day that we learn a new sound, I will use the next day’s phonics lesson to practice blending that sound and help the children apply this to their reading.
The sound cards needed for the activity in the video can be found below!
Below you will find a video for the children to watch. It is a video that contains some activities to help the children blending their sounds when reading.
I hope you enjoy Robins and I will see you shortly!
