Phonics
Welcome to Monday's Phonics!
In Reception, we try to keep activities as practical as possible so that it resembles play, as children learn best this way. He hope you enjoy the activities and have lots of fun!
Recapping our sounds

Our new sound

Task: Now play ‘Run to my sound’
Ask an adult to write the sound ‘qu’ on a piece of paper. On another to write ‘ck’. On another piece of paper ‘ch’. Place these around a room or outside. Stand in the middle of your room or area. Your adult has to say one of these sounds and you need to run to that sound. If you are able to, try to read some words at each sound. So if you’re adult asked you to run to the ‘ch’ sound, your adult could then write a word containing ‘ch’ (with sound buttons) and you could have a go at reading them. Or if you wanted, you could have a go at writing the word yourself!
Here are some suggested words for this game-
qu: quack, quit, quiz
ck: lick, back, lock, duck
ch: much, chop, chick
I'll be available to contact through our class email - kingfishers@bitternemanor.net
So please do contact me for advice or if you simply want to share what your child has done! I would love to see some photos!
