Autumn Term 2
The Great Fire of London
This half term we look at 'The Great Fire of London!' This is a great topic that inspires children to write about real life events.
In English we will be:
- Building on skills from last half term,
- Identifying the past and present tense and using these correctly,
- Using conjunctions appropriately,
- Applying ? and ! marks.
Children will have the chance the apply these skills to a some writing outcomes. We will be looking at a poem by Paul Perro, children will then use their senses to write their own poem. As well as this, children will write their very own newspaper report on the events of the Great Fire!
Phonics will be taught daily alongside spelling strategies that will be used in our writing sessions. Children will also practise handwriting daily.
