What are we learning about?
This half term the children will be spending a great deal of time revising and preparing for their forthcoming SATs tests, whilst also learning about the ideas and methods used in Modern Art. They will find out about a range of artists, such as Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollock. They will apply the techniques of Pop Art and Cubism to their own artwork.
Final preparations will be made for the SATs Reading, Grammar and Spelling papers. Writing will be based on the book ‘The land of Neverbelieve’ and will include writing in role through letters and diaries and short stories. The children will continue to learn to write in a range of forms linked to other curriculum areas, such as Science and Art.
The children will revise key skills in final preparation for the SATs tests.
Science: We will be investigating living things. This will include micro-organisms and classification.
Art: The work of various artists from the Modern Art movement including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. We will also add illustrations to our English writing, based on our topic book, during art.
Due to the length of the half term and the need to prepare for SATs, the trips have been moved to the next half term.
