TOPIC OVERVIEW

-Naming the parts of the human body and identifying the senses.

-Animals and the different groups they are in.

-Florence Nightingale and why she is a significant woman in History. 

-How to design and make a pop up animal in Design Technology.

 

ENGLISH

We will begin this half term reading and learning the story 'Funny bones' through speaking, listening and actions. We will then encourage the children to write their own version of this story. 

We will then be learning about poetry, reading a poem about the human body. The children will then be writing their own version of this poem.  

For about a week we will be revisiting instructional writing, learning about the features of instructions, we will be doing this through making a healthy sandwich.

 

MATHS

We will begin with Multiplication this half term, using the language ‘Lots of’ and ‘groups of’. This will then progress onto Division, where we will be looking at sharing objects equally. Towards the end of the term we will learning about measuring time and applying this into everyday life.

 

CURRICULUM AREAS

Science: Human body and animals.

History: Florence Nightingale.

PE: Gymnastics and FUNS-Transfer weight and movement.

DT: Design and make a pop up 

PSHE: Challenge! Super Head.

 

HOW CAN YOU HELP AT HOME?

Homework and spellings will continue to be sent home on a weekly basis, every Friday. Please also continue to read daily with your child and write comments in their reading logs.
